About the event

Need to get out some energy? Want to do something special? Join us for a hike, some nature play, and possibly to feed chickadees at the Brecksville Nature Center!

We'll plan to meet outside the Nature Center at 10 am. Then we'll hike the Wildflower Loop trail, which is a 0.8 mile trail with old stone stairs, and two bridges that cross streams, so the kids can play sink or float.  We'll also plan to do a few little activites along the hike, to keep the kiddos interested. Currently the Brecksville Nature Center is also offering a free drop-in program from 10am-noon on Sunday, February 4 to hand-feed a chickadee, so if program is running, we can feed a Chickadee before or after the hike. The Metroparks only offers this program in the winter months at the Brecksville Nature Center, so it's a special opportunity. Please note that hand washing/sanitizer required after hand-feed.

After the hike, we can check out the Nature Center, where they have animals, puppets, blocks, etc. There's also a Nature Play area across the street with rocks to climb, a balance area, and a slide and swings. Both are great opportunities for nature play!

Please park at the Harriet Keeler Area Parking lot. Then follow the trail that leads to the nature center. There are bathrooms and water fountains right outside of the nature center. Please note that the Wildflower loop has steps, so if you have a baby/young toddler it's a baby carrrier kind of hike.

We had planned this for Saturday, January 27, however, am moving it, so it doesn't conflict with the Twinkle Tots Program . Hopefully February will be colder and Sundays will be less busy, so the chickadees will be more interested in being fed.
