Here come the trucks! It’s almost time for this great event! Meet the Trucks is hosted by LECPTA and the City of Lakewood at Lakewood Park (14532 Lake Rd.) on Saturday, June 5 from 10 am until 2 pm rain or shine! This is a great way to kick off the summer! The city’s fleet of trucks will be on hand to climb on, there will be food, face painting, tattoos, a balloon twister, the Burning River Roller Derby Girls, bounce houses, a DJ, a raffle for a new bike and more! There will be helmets available to purchase, at cost, compliments of Live Well Lakewood, and Spin will be on hand to do minor bike tune-ups. The Cleveland Metroparks Nature Tracks Bus will be back again this year. This is an interactive classroom on wheels which is really great to check out! The Coast Guard will be on hand and the SWAT Team’s vehicle is coming too! This is one event you do not want to miss!
Everything at the event is FREE, except for food and drinks, but I want to remind everyone that we are still asking for a canned goods donation to the Lakewood Christian Service Center the day of the event. Also, if your family would like to participate in another community service event, the Metro-Health Friends of Mothers and Infants group will be on hand, and families will be able to put together a layette for WIC babies born at MetroHealth Medical Center.
If all that’s not enough, Jungle Bob will also be doing two animal shows. The first show will be from 11 am until Noon and the second show will be from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm. There will be soccer clinics, children’s games and picture opportunities with painted vehicles, painted firemen, etc. Your child can pretend to drive one of these vehicles or be a fireman while he looks through the face cutout to get that perfect shot! There is way too much to list, so just trust me when I say this is one event you don’t want to miss!
